Introduction

Welcome to Stumbl. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using the app, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Location Data

We collect your device's location data to find nearby bars, restaurants, and activities. This data is used only while you are actively using the app and is not stored on our servers. Location data is sent to Google Places API to retrieve venue information.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app experience. This includes:

  • App crash reports and error logs (via Sentry)
  • Feature usage patterns
  • Device type and operating system version

Local Storage

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

  • Your check-in history and reviews
  • Favorite venues
  • App preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.

Firebase Authentication

We use Firebase Authentication for anonymous sign-in. This creates a unique identifier for your device session but does not collect any personal information such as your name, email, or phone number.

Party Mode Data

When you create or join a party, the following is temporarily stored in our cloud database (Firebase Firestore):

  • Anonymous user identifier
  • Party membership and activity
  • Selected venue results

Party data is automatically deleted after 24 hours of inactivity.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Find and display nearby venues based on your location
  • Enable real-time party synchronization with friends
  • Improve app stability and fix bugs
  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance features

Third-Party Services

Stumbl uses the following third-party services:

Google Places API

Used to search for nearby venues. Your location is sent to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Firebase (Google)

Used for anonymous authentication and real-time party synchronization. See Firebase Privacy Policy.

Sentry

Used for error tracking and crash reporting. Device information and error details may be collected. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.

Uber & Lyft

Links to ride-sharing services are provided for convenience. When you tap these links, you will be redirected to their apps, which have their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

  • Location data: Not stored; used only during active sessions
  • Local data: Stored on your device until you delete the app
  • Party data: Automatically deleted after 24 hours
  • Error logs: Retained for 90 days in Sentry

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your local data by uninstalling the app
  • Request deletion of any cloud-stored data
  • Opt out of location tracking by denying location permissions

Children's Privacy

Stumbl is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years of age. Certain features (Bars & Drinks) are restricted to users 21 and older via an in-app age gate. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
